KOKO Forest Oy is a dynamic start-up company dedicated to providing cutting-edge insights on forest disturbances and biodiversity to bolster forest resilience against the effects of climate change. We are seeking a Remote Sensing Analyst with a strong technical foundation in remote sensing or computer science to join our innovative team.
REMOTE SENSING ANALYST
Key Responsibilities:
– Develop advanced pattern recognition algorithms and utilize remote sensing tools for forest mapping across Europe and North America.
– Analyze high-resolution optical imagery and airborne laser scanning (LiDAR) data.
– Contribute to forest damage detection, biodiversity monitoring, and forest resilience enhancement projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
– MSc or equivalent degree in a relevant field (e.g., environmental science, computer science, remote sensing, geography, forest science, or computational ecology).
– Demonstrated expertise in handling geospatial data, including remote sensing data.
– Proficiency in Python (or R) and experience developing machine learning or deep learning algorithms.
Skills we consider as advantages:
– Experience in forest ecology, ecophysiology, or global ecology.
– Strong understanding of forest monitoring techniques and image analysis.
– Familiarity with LiDAR data processing and high-resolution optical imagery.
– Excellent communication skills in English (Finnish language skills are a plus but not mandatory).
